Gastroscopy Procedure Room

What is Gastroscopy?

A gastroscopy (also known as an upper endoscopy) is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the lining of your esophagus, stomach, and the beginning of your small intestine (duodenum). This procedure helps identify causes of abdominal pain, nausea, heartburn, and other digestive issues.

At Provincial Endoscopy Center, we use state-of-the-art technology to ensure comfort, precision, and safety throughout the procedure.

Before Your Procedure

  • Do not eat or drink for at least 6 hours before your appointment.
  • Inform your doctor about any medications or allergies.
  • Arrange for someone to drive you home, as sedation may affect your alertness.

After the Procedure

  • You may experience mild throat discomfort for a few hours.
  • Resume your normal diet once the sedation wears off.
  • Results will be reviewed with you by your physician or sent to your referring doctor.
